How to Use the Tile Calculator

  2. Area to Cover:

    • Select Use Dimensions if you know the length and width of the area.

What is Gap Size?

The gap size refers to the space left between tiles when installing them.

Purpose of Gap Size:

  • Allowing Expansion: Tiles may expand or contract.

  • Aesthetic Appeal: Creates a uniform look.

  • Grout Application: Filled with grout to hold tiles.

Typical Gap Sizes:

  • Standard Size: 1/16 inch (1.5mm) to 1/8 inch (3mm).

  • Larger Tiles: 1/8 inch (3mm) to 1/4 inch (6mm).

  • Natural Stone Tiles: 3/16 inch (4.5mm) or more.
