Tile Calculator Guide

Follow this guide to use our Tile Calculator effectively 📘

How to Use the Tile Calculator

  1. Step 1: Enter Tile Size

Input the length and width of a single tile in the "Tile Size" section. Choose the unit (inches, feet, or cm) from the dropdown menu. For example, if your tile is 12 inches by 12 inches, enter "12" for both fields and select "inches".

  2. Step 2: Define Area to Cover

    Choose your method:

    • Use Dimensions: Enter the length and width of the area (e.g., 20 feet by 15 feet) and select the unit (feet, meters, or yards).
    • Use Total Area: If you know the total area (e.g., 300 square feet), select this option and input the value with the unit (square feet, square meters, or square yards).

  3. Step 3: Set Gap Size (Optional)

Enter the gap size between tiles (e.g., 2 cm) in the "Gap Size" section. This is the grout line width. Select the unit (inches or cm). Skip this if no gap is needed.

  4. Step 4: Specify Box Size

Input the number of tiles per box (e.g., 12) in the "Box Size" section. This helps calculate how many boxes you’ll need.

  5. Step 5: Add Price per Tile (Optional)

Enter the price per tile (e.g., $1.5) in the "Price per Tile" section to estimate the total cost. Skip this if cost calculation isn’t required.

  6. Step 6: Calculate

Click the "Calculate" button to see the results, including the number of tiles, boxes, and total cost (if price is entered).

  7. Step 7: Clear (Optional)

Click "Clear" to reset the form and start over if needed.

Tips for Accurate Results

  • Measure your area carefully using a tape measure to avoid errors.
  • Add 5-10% extra tiles to account for cutting, waste, and future repairs.
  • For irregular shapes, break the area into smaller rectangles and calculate separately.
  • Use consistent units (e.g., all measurements in feet or all in cm) for simplicity.
